DETROIT – Motor City Connect kicks off Blood, Sweat and Gear July 27 to transform Detroit through the spirit of cooperation.

The biggest element of this week, July 27 ?? August 1 will provide a great opportunity for many of the area’s groups, clubs, chambers and associations to come together to focus on creating positive change.

“We have many pockets of people focused on changing Detroit and that’s great,? said Terry Bean, founder of Motor City Connect. ??What would be better if we get all of those leaders working together, sharing the same message and having all people moving in the same direction.?

Blood, Sweat and Gear was chosen as the name to represents the charities that are supported: Blood represents the Red Cross of Southeastern Michigan. We will be doing a blood drive on Monday, July 27th .Sweat represents Motor City Blightbusters. We will be spending July 29, July 31, and Aug. 1 in the historic Redford area (of Detroit?) making positive change on some of the dilapidated houses there. We will also be collecting sledgehammers, axes, gloves and large trash cans. Gear represents Operation Kid Equip. We will be doing a fund raiser that includes cash and paper (wide ruled notebooks and plain paper) so OKE can support thousands of underprivileged kids with the supplies they need to receive a quality education.
