ANN ARBOR ? The New Enterprise Forum is hosting its Battle of the Elevator Pitches Thursday May 20 with Keith Brophy of RCM Technologies defending his title as most entertaining pitch in the 2009 contest.

During this popular annual event, NEF spotlights leading entrepreneurs

who know how to have fun while demonstrating what a great business pitch looks like.

NEF will give the participants an imaginary, offbeat company to pitch ? with almost no time

to prepare. The panel of judges will take it all in, assessing substance as well as style. Past events have been based on Gilligan’s Island, Dr. Seuss, and Columbus’ presumed discovery of America.

Cast of Characters:

Besides Brophy, also joining the fun will be Chris Holman, Lansing Business Monthly; Ned Staebler, MEDC; Tom Kinnear, angel investor extraordinaire; Dick Beedon, two-time pitch-battle champ; Mike Korybalski, founder of Mechanical Dynamics; and Jen Baird, founder of Accuri Cytometers.

Moderator: David Brophy, Director of the Office for the Study of Private Equity Finance; Associate Professor of Finance, whose research focuses on pricing of initial public offerings of common stock and characteristics of the venture capital market. Certainly suitable qualifications for his May program role.

The Wild Card: Eleni Kelakos, motivational speaker, keynote speaker, entertainer, and creative bottle rocket will provide another compelling performance. We just don’t know what magical role she will play! Come see it as it unfolds.

Where: Holiday Inn North Campus, 3600 Plymouth Road, Ann Arbor

When: Registration & networking 5:00 p.m., program begins at 5:45 p.m.

Cost: Free to NEF members, $20 for non-members, $5 for students
