SAGINAW – On March 16, Saginaw Valley State University’s Center for Business & Economic Development and the Great Lakes Bay Regional Alliance are jointly hosting a program about new opportunities for sourcing capital in mid-Michigan on the Saginaw Valley State University campus.

Businesses throughout the region continue to cite lack of growth capital as the single greatest barrier to growth.

While credit markets on a global basis have constricted dramatically, a new array of capital sources have been organized in the region. Come learn about how we can continue to improve the overall business client of mid-Michigan through expanding capital resources.

Included in this morning program will be an overview of the market by Ken Kousky, Dow Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Saginaw Valley State University. In addition, you?ll hear more about the BlueWater Angels Investment Network, area venture firms, and the latest addition to the region?s suite of resources, the EB-5 Michigan Regional Center, which has been authorized to raise foreign investments from immigrant investors through the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. These combined programs have the potential of bringing millions of dollars of capital to the largest source of job creation in the country, high-growth small businesses.

Goal of the program is to acquaint the regional economic development community with new, vital resources in mid-Michigan and to increase the quality of investment opportunities in the region.
