ROCHESTER ? Michigan Senator Carl Levin will be a guest speaker at Oakland University’s Midwest Conference on Stem Cell Biology and Therapy May 9?11 at Meadow Brook Hall. The conference also will bring together scientists and clinicians from across the globe to share the latest advancements in stem cell research.
The conference will address the latest advancements in research on stem cell biology, tissue engineering, and therapy involving embryonic stem cells, adult stem cells, and umbilical cord blood stem cells. In addition, the conference will provide an opportunity to educate the general public on ethical and scientific issues concerning stem cell research and clinical applications.
Sen. Levin will be a guest speaker at the conference. The keynote speaker will be Andras Nagy, senior scientist at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. Nagy will discuss ?Mouse Genetics: The Changing Landscape.? More than two dozen other researchers from Canada, Sweden, the Czech Republic, NIH, Beaumont Hospitals, Providence Hospital, Harvard Medical School, University of Michigan, University of Madison?Wisconsin, University of Pittsburg, Wayne State University and Oakland University, among others, will speak at the conference.
The conference is jointly sponsored by Oakland University and Beaumont Hospitals, in cooperation with St. John Health Providence.
