ANN ARBOR – MichBio, the Michigan life science trade association, will host Joseph Papa, chairman and chief executive officer of Perrigo Company, as the keynote speaker for its April 22 Annual Meeting in Ann Arbor. Papa’s topic will be Meeting the World’s Growing Need for Quality, Affordable Healthcare Products.

Perrigo, based in Allegan, is a leading global healthcare supplier that develops, manufactures and distributes over-the-counter and prescription pharmaceuticals, nutritional products, active pharmaceutical ingredients and consumer products. The company is the world’s largest manufacturer of OTC pharmaceutical products for the store brand market. Its primary markets and locations of manufacturing facilities are the United States, Israel, Mexico and the United Kingdom.

Papa joined Perrigo in October 2006 as president and chief executive officer. He was elected to the company?s Board of Directors in November 2006 and appointed chairman of the board in October 2007. He previously served as chairman and chief executive officer of the Pharmaceutical and Technologies Services segment of Cardinal Health. Prior to that position he served as president and chief operating officer of Watson Pharmaceuticals. Additionally, he has held management positions at DuPont Pharmaceuticals, Pharmacia Corporation, G.D.Searle and Novartis.

The MichBio Annual Meeting draws approximately 200 of the industry?s leaders and most influential biotech professionals from across the state. It will be held at the Kensington Court Hotel in Ann Arbor, MI. Reception and networking begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner meeting and presentation at 6:30 p.m. The cost before April 20 is $80 for members, $110 for non-members. After April 20 the cost increases to $100 and $130, respectively.
