LANSING – The Michigan Public Service Commission on Tuesday approved a power purchase agreement between DTE Electric Company and the Big Turtle Wind Farm to be constructed in Huron County.
The project slated to contain more than 50 percent Michigan-sourced content in terms of material, components, logistics and labor, the commission said in a statement. The agreement is for 20 megawatts of energy, capacity and renewable energy credits from the wind farm. The contract is 20 years, with estimated pricing of up to $53 per megawatt-hour.
Construction on the project is expected to begin this year, in time to take advantage of the federal production tax credit, the commission said. Delivery is expected to begin in 2014, and the commission does not expect the project will result in a rate increase to customers.
DTE GAS COMPANY CREDITS: The commission approved a net refund of $16.9 million, or a decrease of $1.16 on the monthly bill of a customer using 100 ccf of natural gas a month, for DTE Gas Company customers. The refund is effective for 12 months beginning in October.
UPPER PENINSULA POWER COMPANY: The commission also approved a settlement agreement authorizing the 2014-2015 energy optimization plan for the Upper Peninsula Power Company, resulting in an increase of five cents a month for customers using 500 kilowatt-hours of electricity a month. The increase is effective January 2014.
