DETROIT ? Both Michigan Tech and the University of Detroit-Mercy are offering electric-drive vehicle courses that begin in January 2011.

Michigan Tech Hybrid Electric Drive Vehicle Courses

The Engineering Society of Detroit has partnered with Michigan Technological University to make ESD’s headquarters a satellite location for distance learning students enrolled in Michigan Tech courses for the following Hybrid Electric Drive Vehicle (HEDV) programs: Professional Certification of Completion (9 credits), Graduate Certificate Degree of Completion (15 credits), or the Professional Master’s Degree program (30 credits).

A limited number of free class registrations are available to ‘engineers in transition (unemployed at time of registration) for this January, based on engineers’ qualifications and specific class requested.

University of Detroit Mercy Electric Vehicle Courses

The University of Detroit Mercy (UDM) new Advanced Electric Vehicle (AEV) Graduate Certificate Program offers today’s engineering community innovative solutions for the development of tomorrow’s advanced electric and hybrid electric vehicles.

The AEV program emphasizes core electric and hybrid vehicle engineering expertise, including power electronics, power flow, energy management and systems architecture. It provides traditional engineers with new skill sets and competencies necessary to meet emerging advanced electric vehicle technologies.

Students will select five from seven courses designed to deploy the most current technology, strategies, methods and tools emerging from universities, corporations and national laboratories.
