TRAVERSE CITY – SEEDS will present initial findings from their baseline assessment of the greenhouse gas emissions from Grand Traverse County residents, businesses and visitors including strategies for reducing emissions on March 5 at the Traverse Area District Library.

With a clear picture of where our emissions are coming from we can develop targeted strategies to reduce emissions quickly. SEEDS will offer assistance with cost analysis, discounted energy audits, and the invitation to participate in long term monitoring of our progress as a community.

Three out of four Americans want their local government to do more to reduce the heat trapping gasses that cause global warming. In 2007, the Traverse City Commissioners unanimously joined hundreds of cities across the nation in giving support to the US Mayor’s Climate Protection Agreement and then soon joined forces with the Grand Traverse County Commissioners. This agreement calls for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions below 1990 levels by 2012.
