GRAND RAPIDS – America’s Small Business Development Center Network, at its 28th Annual Conference in September, will recognize Sienna Mavima as Michigan’s Star Performer.

The ASBDC’s State Stars are SBDC employees exhibiting exemplary performance while making a significant contribution to their state SBDC program. This individual must also show a strong commitment to small business.

Sienna Mavima is the Information Manager and Assistant to the Director for the Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Center ( MI-SBTDC). She is responsible for maintaining MI-SBTDC’s management information systems. Sienna also ensures that the MI-SBTDC network operates effectively and efficiently, and consistently with MI-SBTDC’s Strategic Plan, ASBDC standards and the SBA cooperative agreement.

Mavima came to the MI-SBTDC from another department of Grand Valley State University where she served as an instructional design consultant. Prior to her tenure with Grand Valley State University, Mavima served as a teaching assistant at Florida State University. There she taught a graduate course in systems approach to change management.

Mavima received a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Zimbabwe and earned her Master’s in Instructional Systems Design from Florida State University. She also holds a Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Zimbabwe.
