LANSING – Entrepreneurs that are driving Michigan’s economy will be honored at the Michigan Celebrates Small Business event on April 30th at the Lansing Center in Lansing.

“Each year the event gains momentum, and this year is no exception,” said Carol Lopucki, State Director of the Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center.

“The event offers an opportunity to highlight over 60 small businesses that have propelled Michigan??s economy in 2008. Now in its fifth year, we are ecstatic to showcase the outstanding businesses selected as the Michigan 50 Companies to Watch.”

Josh Linkner, ePrize founder and Chief Executive Officer, and a 2005 Michigan 50 Companies to Watch winner, will provide the keynote address to an expected audience of more than 700.

“Michigan Celebrates Small Business is a unique event that honors the Michigan 50 Companies to Watch, the SBA’s Small Business Awardees, and those selected as SBA Champions,” said Richard Temkin, SBA’s Michigan District Director. “The evening represents what is great about Michigan and gives us a glimpse into the future of our economy. These men and women will create a lasting impact in Michigan.”

The evening will consist of light jazz played by a live band during the opening reception, an exceptional dinner, an exciting awards presentation, and a post event reception to allow guests to mingle and congratulate the award winners.

Five founders that support and celebrate entrepreneurship in Michigan banded together in 2005 to create Michigan Celebrates Small Business, the state’s premier awards ceremony for entrepreneurs and small business leaders. The event??s founders are the Edward Lowe Foundation, Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center, Small Business Association of Michigan, and the U.S. Small Business Administration.
