DETROIT – Detroit Cobo Center will host the inaugural Small and Community Wind Conference & Exhibition Nov. 3-5. Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm, who worked with the Legislature to pass Michigan’s first renewable energy portfolio standard, will speak at the general session.
The Program Chairs, Jacob Susman, Chief Executive Officer, OwnEnergy and Charles Newcomb, Chief Technology Officer, NexGen Energy Partners have worked in conjunction with AWEA on the designing and planning of the educational sessions at this event.
For those who want to learn more about how wind power can reduce their electricity bills, they can attend a three-hour seminar on Nov. 3 at 1 pm that will provide a comprehensive introduction to the wind energy industry. It is a great event to pair with Installer Training.
Anyone wanting to learn the basics of wind power will benefit from this seminar, which offers an overview of the wind industry, wind energy economics, project siting issues, wind technology and transmission.

As the national trade association for the wind industry, the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) strives to create and deliver educational events that capture the energy of the rapidly expanding wind market and offer necessary opportunities for organizations to learn and network with fellow wind professionals. The revenue generated from AWEA events is used to advance the wind industry through policy analysis and promotion, to ensure wind industry interests are addressed in renewable energy legislation, and to communicate the benefits of wind energy to all.
