LANSING – Governor-elect Rick Snyder spent $11 million on his successful campaign for governor while defeated Democratic candidate Virg Bernero spent $2.1 million.
Those numbers reflect spending for the entire campaign. For the general election phase, Snyder outspent Bernero $3.4 million to $2 million. But those figures don’t include heavy outside spending by the Republican Governors Association for Snyder and the Democratic Party for Bernero.
During the final reporting period, Snyder’s campaign received $804,780 bringing the cumulative total to $12.288 million. More than half the funding came from Snyder himself, and the post-general election report shows the campaign still owes $6.1 million.
During the final reporting period, Snyder’s campaign spent $1.669 million. For the entire campaign Snyder spent $10.965 million.
That means the campaign still has cash on hand of $1.669 million.
