LANSING – Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Snyder released Tuesday his plan to improve ethics in Lansing should be he be elected.
Among his proposals is a ban on all gifts from lobbyists, a two-year “cooling off period” between holding elected or appointed office and registering as a lobbyist, a $5,000 limit on contributions to PACs, and ethics training for all public employees.
“Citizens deserve a transparent process and ethical leadership from their elected officials,” Snyder said in a statement. “Rather than allow lobbyists and special interests to cozy up to elected officials, it’s time to ban lobbyist gifts, limit transactions, implement full reporting standards and put in place a cooling off period that will prevent the constant revolving door between elected office and special interest payrolls.”
