WASHINGTON DC ? Gov. Rick Snyder will unveil next week at the National Governor?s Conference an electronic dashboard designed to provide all governors an overview of their state?s cybersecurity environment, part of a Call To Action For Governors for Cybersecurity.
Snyder, co-chair of the NGA Resource Center for State Cybersecurity, will release the dashboard Sept. 26 in Washington D.C., where he and co-chair Maryland Gov. Martin O?Malley will also brief Congress on recent state-led Cybersecurity initiatives and new opportunities to leverage resources, such as the National Guard to support both federal and state needs.
Snyder and O?Malley also will unveil A Call to Action for Governors for Cybersecurity, a list of short-term, high-impact solutions governors can take immediately to help reduce their state?s cyber risk. He will offer a governor?s perspective on the federal cybersecurity agenda and identify new opportunities for improved federal-state coordination and engagement to address the nation?s cybersecurity challenges.
This Call to Action, which provides strategic recommendations governors can immediately adopt to improve their state?s cybersecurity posture, builds on the advice of national experts and practitioners from both the public and private sectors. It also addresses a governance and authority structure for cybersecurity; risk assessments and allocation of resources; continuous vulnerability threat monitoring practices; and compliance with current security methodologies and business disciplines.
Additional details will be released on Sept. 26.
