DETROIT ? Gary Erickson, a serial entrepreneur and business advisor best known in Southeast Michigan for his successful exit from Great Lakes Technologies Group, is back in a higher visibility role as President and Chief Operating Officer for Cybernoor, which focuses on making Oracle applications run faster.
Erickson said he has been an advisor to Cybernoor, based in a San Francisco Bay Area suburb, since January, but accepted the president?s role in May. He?s also managing partner of Executive Search Partners, an executive search group.
?My background has been in a variety of companies, as well as establishing a decent track record at building companies from scratch,? Erickson said. ?Cybernoor has been one of those companies I?ve been advising.?
Cybernoor was formed in 2007 by the former VP of Oracle?s Applications Performance Management group, Ahmed Alomari. Erickson and Alomari worked together at RL Polk in the mid 1990?s. Alomari asked Erickson to take a more traditional role, running operations, so he could help Cybernoor grow more significantly.
What he likes about Cybernoor, he said, is it has a niche that in unique. Cybernoor focuses on making Oracle applications run faster.
?To do that, we have to fully understand and work across the entire Oracle stack, everything from software, to hardware, to communications. Our approach is to regard it as an integrated whole, as opposed to a collection of pieces. When we solve problems for our customers, we can do so in a few hours, rather than days or weeks, like our competitors.?
He said he also was impressed with Cybernoor?s client list. Most are Fortune 100 or 500 companies. Some of them are Citibank, EMC, Leapfrog, Wendy?s, Arrow Electronics, Verizon and Office Depot.
Cybernoor is a virtual corporation, he said. He works out of his office in Sarasota, Florida. The Chief Technology Officer and Chief Executive Officer work from Pleasanton, California. The head of sales is in Cincinnati, Ohio, while the Technology Director lives in Lexington, Kentucky. Twenty-three other employees are scattered around the country.
