DETROIT ? Registration is now open for the 2012 Michigan Green Chemistry and Engineering Conference scheduled for Oct. 26 at Wayne State University?s McGregor Memorial Conference Center.
The conference showcases how green chemistry and engineering are contributing to revitalization in manufacturing by using less toxic materials in the design and production of goods.
?Michigan is leading this effort to promote environmental stewardship and economic development through collaborations with universities, chemical companies, advanced manufacturers, and the supply chain,? said Bryce Feighner, chief of the Department of Environmental Quality Office of Environmental Assistance.
Farshad Fotouhi, dean of the WSU College of Engineering, said green technology is one of the college?s main interdisciplinary research areas.
?Our faculty, students, and alumni pioneer and research new technologies each day,? Fotouhi said. ?We are thrilled to host this important conference and look forward to welcoming green leaders and pioneers to the Motor City.?
Conference participants include manufacturers, researchers, chemists, engineers, industry CEOs, students, educators, entrepreneurs, decision makers and policymakers ? anyone interested in smart, sustainable growth is welcome to attend. Attendees will learn how green chemistry and engineering can protect human health and the environment while helping businesses create new markets, reduce costs, and gain a competitive edge.
