DETROIT – Entrepreneurs competed to win an array of prizes including a finalist position in Bizdom’s winter accelerator, two seats in MidMichigan Innovation Center’s CrowdCamp with Rocket Hub, $2,500 in‐kind legal services from Varnum Attorneys at Law, and acceptance to pitch at TechTown Accelerator.
First Place went to RegainGo, a virtual tour service for contractors to showcase their past work to potential clients. Second place was awarded to PartyLine, a social networking app for iPhone or iPad that connects to random users via voice chat based upon preset interests. Third place went to Flipsi, a reversible sports bottle that can be flipped inside out for easy cleaning.
?We couldn?t have had a better set of companies at this event ? every company filled a specific niche in the technology sector and deliberation on a winner was difficult,? said Ken Kousky, MMIC CEO. ?Our judges were spectacular, and Detroit offers talented individuals with great ideas critical for an entrepreneurial ecosystem. This type of sales focused approach will transform the startup culture in Michigan.?
The MidMichigan Innovation Center and D‐New Tech hosted the event in downtown Detroit at The Detroit Opera House bringing nearly 100 observers and participants.
