ANN ARBOR ? Technology Transfer Opportunities for Entrepreneurs will be the topic Tuesday of a Great Lakes Entrepreneur?s Quest seminar, part of the business-writing plan contest?s commercialization program.
Karen Studer-Rabeler, Associate Director, New Business Development for the University of Michigan and Judy Johncox, Director, Venture Development Office at Wayne State University will discuss how entrepreneurs can engage the Universities and access technology for commercialization.
As Associate Director of New Business Development at the University of Michigan’s Office of Technology Transfer, Studer-Rabeler manages the Business Development Group and personally assists in the creation of new businesses based on technology invented at U-M. Her primary focus is on the life sciences and microsystems.
Johncox has more than 10 years experience providing strategic management and marketing in the areas of research administration, technology transfer and business development. She has a well-established track record of successfully evaluating research-based, academic technologies for commercialization and business development and joined WSU in June 2003.
She was previously Vice President, Indiana University-Advanced Research and Technology Institute, and Assistant Vice Chancellor for Intellectual Property Management at the University of Houston and she managed technology transfer and university/industry relations at both universities.
The event is scheduled for May 9 from 6-9 pm at the Michigan Information Technology Center (MITC) , 1000 Oakbrook Drive, Ann Arbor.
