DETROIT – TechTown’s hosting an open house for entrepreneurs in Southeast Michigan on April 29 to showcase SmartStart, a new accelerator program for startups with unique business models.

Many people are thinking about starting their own business these days but mistakenly think they don’t have what it takes to be an entrepreneur. SmartStart can give them what they need to take their innovative startup from concept to reality.

SmartStart provides:

One-on-one coaching;

The Kauffman Foundation’s award-winning FastTrac program for entrepreneurs with a focus on business plans, sales pitches, operations and market research;

A network of highly experienced mentors in the Detroit business community;

Anyone in Southeast Michigan who’s interested in learning more about SmartStart is welcome to attend the open house. SmartStart staff will be on hand to answer all your questions about the program and the application process.

The application deadline for the first admissions cycle is in June, so people are encouraged to apply soon. The admission process is competitive, and only 25 companies are accepted into the program each six-month cycle.
