DETROIT ? TheFreeLunchFriday hosts its second monthly meet-up Feb. 22 at Atomic Object’s Harmonie Park office. The featured speaker is Mike McGee, co-founder of The Starter League, a beginner-focused software school in Chicago.
Before The Starter League, Mike’s greatest claim to fame was that his High School mascot was a pretzel. He went to Northwestern in Chicago for four years where he spent two years as a student and two years in student government – miraculously becoming Student Body President Senior year. In Spring 2011, Mike decided to turn down Obama for America (his first real job offer) to co-found The Starter League, the best beginner-focused software school in the world.
Mike likes designing products with purpose, and motivating others to exceed their potential.
FreeLunchFriday kicked off in Detroit and Los Angeles in January. This month a third community in Orange County, California, will launch. Next month, FLF will be at the South By Southwest 2013 music, digital and entrepreneur extravaganza in Austin, Texas. A fifth community in Phoenix, Arizona, also will launch in March.
