DETROIT ? If you’d like your company to trade with your business counterparts in Canada and Mexico, then you’re going to want to attend the Trade North America Conference in September at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center.

The two day conference, Sept. 9-10, not only includes a keynote speech from former Michigan Governor John Engler, but also one-on-one meetings for US companies with businesses in Canada and Mexico. Michigan businesses export some $24 billion a year to Canada and $5 billion to Mexico.

“One of the most important aspects of this event is to educate and inform the business community about the opportunities to export to Canada and Mexico,”

said Richard Corson, a US Trade Representative, who is helping organize the conference.

“This is a way for US companies to gain a lot of substantive information in a couple of days and to meet with the commercial officers of the US embassies in Canada and Mexico,” said US Trade Representative Richard Corson who is helping organize the conference.

Besides Engler, who is now President and CEO of the National Association of Manufacturers, the conference also features Robert Noble, Canadian Consult General and Vicente Sanchez Venture, Consul of Mexico. Both are confirmed to say a few words at the Conference Reception taking place at Coach Insignia on September 9.

Corson said there also is an opportunity for some American companies to meet one-on-one with Canadian companies from Southwestern Ontario. The charge for this service is $700, but also includes the $250 conference registration fee. If you want to attend the conference only, the fee is $250 until Aug. 1, when it jumps to $275.
