LANSING ? PM Environmental and AKT Peerless Environmental Services will
become AKT-PM Environmental & Development Services when they merge on New Year’s Day 2007.
AKT Peerless Environmental Services is a Michigan-based environmental
consulting firm. PM Environmental serves banks and other lending institutions,
developers, commercial realtors and borrowers/buyers of commercial real
estate by providing a full range of environmental services.
PM Environmental has about 50 employees in four offices in Michigan and
Alabama, while AKT Peerless also has about 50 employees in four Michigan
locations. The company will do some consolidation in its Lansing and metro Detroit offices. The new company’s headquarters will be in Farmington
Hills, with satellite offices in Saginaw, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Detroit and Decatur, Ala.
The merger will likely result in new jobs as well.
“This is going to open up opportunities for us to grow,” he says. “With the
ability to offer a larger variety of services at more competitive prices,
we anticipate the need to add staff,? said PM Environmental
principal and vice president Michael Kulka.

great group of people whose professionalism is matched by their passion.”
Brian Eggers, AKT Peerless principal. It’s a marriage that plays to the strengths of each company.
“PM Environmental has a strong reputation for environmental due
diligence services for the development and banking industries,” said
Eggers. “At the same time, AKT Peerless has strengths in brownfield
redevelopment and site reclamation, with a strong customer base in the
industrial world.”
Kulka sees the combination leaving AKT-PM in a strong leadership
position, giving the company strength in several areas, including:
Brownfield redevelopment, including federal and state grants and
other incentives
Environmental due diligence, through Phase I and Phase II
environmental assessments
Management of underground storage tanks
Environmental cleanup and remediation
Environmental compliance and training
Industrial hygiene and indoor air quality issues
Engineering services
AKT Peerless currently manages more than two dozen brownfield site
assessment grants issued by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. They
have helped secure more than $200 million in brownfield and other
redevelopment funds for clients throughout Michigan, while PM Environmental
has conducted thousands of environmental assessments for banks, law firms
and developers.
The equity partners in the new company will include
Kulka, PM Environmental president and principal Peter S. Bosanic, AKT
Peerless principals Eggers, Tony R. Anthony and Anthony J. Kashat.
