ANN ARBOR – The University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business ranked 14th nationally in a new study by U.S. News & World Report 2014 Best Business School List, down one place from the year before.
Michigan State University’s business school was the only other university in the state to be assigned a numerical rank on the list. It finished 43rd.
The report, released Tuesday, ranks the top 104 master’s programs in business accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business and also released a list of 344 unranked second-tier schools.
Rankings are based on a weighted average of indicators of quality, such as recruiter assessment score, peer assessment score and average starting salary after graduation.
Twelve Michigan schools were included in the second tier. They included:
Central Michigan University
Eastern Michigan University
Michigan Technological University
Northern Michigan University
Oakland University
Saginaw Valley State University
University of Detroit Mercy
University of Michigan ? Dearborn & Flint
Wayne State University
Western Michigan University
If a school or program was assigned an “unranked” position, it means that U.S. News did not calculate a numerical ranking for that school or program because it did not supply the newspaper with enough key statistical data to be numerically ranked.
