GRAND RAPIDS ? Van Andel Institute announced the appointment of David Whitescarver as Vice President and Chief Legal Officer effective August 1. Whitescarver is responsible for managing the legal affairs of VAI, Van Andel Research Institute, and Van Andel Education Institute and serving as secretary to the boards of these organizations.
?Mr. Whitescarver has a proven track record of successfully managing innovative legal programs and teams in complex healthcare and IT organizations,? said VAI Chairman & CEO David Van Andel. ?He will be a valued advisor as VAI continues to expand its programs and initiatives.?
Prior to joining VAI, Whitescarver managed the in-house legal affairs at leading healthcare organizations, including Medtronic, Inc. and New York Blood Center, Inc., in the United States and abroad and was engaged in the private practice of law at a major Wall Street firm. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law.
