NEW YORK ? Bryan Janeczko left a lucrative Wall Street job to start a celebrity food and nutrition service in New York City and now has taken all that entrepreneurial savvy he picked up along the way to create a web site that will help other entrepreneurs short cut some of his business pain.

Wicked Start is a new business application with a vast array of resources designed to provide step-by-step guidance and support to aspiring entrepreneurs or anyone who is thinking about starting a business. The site features personalized roadmaps, checklists, guides, forums and advice. Not bad for a guy from Wisconsin who moved to the Big Apple 15 years ago to earn an MBA from New York University. He later worked on Wall Street.

But the financial world didn’t feed his entrepreneurial soul.

“I worked with amazing people, but wasn’t expressing myself,” Janeczko said. “I took two years to quit my job, but during that time wrote a business plan for my first business, Nu-Kitchen. I took courses in restaurant management, got mentors. I raised $400,000 in seed capital, went forth in late 2003 and in 2008 sold it” (to Nutrisystem in a multimillion-dollar deal).

But after he sold Nu-Kitchen, he had a let-down. He realized he loved connecting to people, plus he had accumulated a wealth of knowledge on what to do, and not to do, when you start a business from scratch. He met with a couple of business experts and identified common threads ? his next project must be technology based and online to let it be used by the widest possible entrepreneurial audience. “It is a very challenging time for a lot of people,” Janeczko said. “You’re in a very different arena and you have to take care of everything yourself. You need a lot of inspiration and you need a lot of guidance. So have fun, learn and recognize it is a whole new game.”

What he’s tried to do with Wicked Start is to use an irreverent, playful approach. The tactic has helped him get a lot of attention.

“I’m convinced many businesses start more successfully if they follow a structure. There is no single place on the web where someone who has an idea can weigh out the how-to steps. Call it the Wisconsin approach. Our application also provides a robust community designed to help individuals achieve the levels of entrepreneurial success they’ve always dreamed about.”

Oh, and the name, Wicked Start is a play on a slang definition of “wicked,” meaning masterful. A “wicked start” is another way of saying you’re starting a masterful business.
