SOUTHFIELD – What do Anita Borg, Padmasree Warrior, and Linda Sanford have in common? They are all notable Hall of Famers in the Women in Technology International (WITI) Hall of Fame which started in 1996.

The WITI Hall of Fame award, considered to be among the most prestigious honors for women in science and technology, recognizes the notable contributions of women who are leading innovation in science and technology and who have also demonstrated a commitment to supporting and mentoring women and girls worldwide.

October 23 marked the opening of nominations for the 19th year of this prestigious program. If you know a woman who stands out in your mind as a technology innovator or change agent for trends in science and technology, then act today to get her nominated. This is a great way to support women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields by recognizing their progress through programs like this. By taking a look at the WITI Hall of Fame alone, one could see a comprehensive list of women who have and continue to shape a future for all women in technology. The WITI group does much more than offer recognition, it delivers a variety of programs that benefit any women pursuing a career in a science or technology related field.

All Hall of Fame candidates must be nominated by a second party in order to receive consideration so start thinking about who you know today who would be a great addition to the Hall of Fame. The nomination submission deadline is January 15, 2014 for candidates to be inducted in the 2014 calendar year. In February, the nomination forms are sent to an independent panel of judges. The inductees are selected and notified shortly thereafter and inducted at an annual ceremony scheduled to take place on June 2, 2014. Nominees must be personally available to accept the WITI Hall of Fame Award.
