DETROIT – A new wave of mobile technology is on the way, and with it comes the need for wireless networks with increased capabilities. To help the Mobile Monday Detroit audience understand the advances being made in wireless network technologies, experts from Verizon Wireless and Aerohive Networks will share information about 5G and the next evolution of Wi-Fi.

The event takes place on Monday May 9 at 6 p.m. at the offices of RIIS, located at 1250 Stephenson Highway, Suite 200 in Troy.

Speakers will be:

  • Jim Doran, Client Partner – Connected Solutions, Verizon Wireless Business Group
  • Mike Fortenberry, Regional Sales Manager – Great Lakes, Aerohive Networks
Doran’s presentation will focus on 5G as the foundation for the ‘Internet of Things’, and how it will combine existing technologies with next-generation radio access advances to deliver greater connectivity for M2M services and connecting billions more devices to the burgeoning Internet of Things. He’ll provide a broad overview of the pending 5G roll-out and highlight what it means for business and technology development.
Fortenberry’s presentation will focus on 802.11ac and upcoming WLAN standards, iBeacons, and building robust wireless networks to meet the challenges IT professionals are facing in terms of capacity, flexibility, security, privacy and visibility as they evaluate complex combinations of WLAN standards, management, and technology like MU-MIMO.

The event is free to attend but advance reservations via Meetup ARE REQUIRED in order to attend; make your reservation at http://meetup.com/Mobile-Monday-Detroit. Refreshments will be served courtesy of our host and sponsor, RIIS. Free parking is available onsite.
