Where To Expect White Christmas: Spoiler Alert Michigan Ranks 6th

DETROIT – A new study contends that Michigan has a better than average chance of a White Christmas this year since Michigan is the sixth snowiest state, with 60.66 inches average annual snowfall. The research by sleep experts Amerisleep analysed data on the average amount of annual snowfall each state receives per year.

Vermont is the snowiest state in the U.S., making it the state that is the most likely to have a white Christmas, thanks to its annual average of 89.25 inches of snow.

Maine is the second snowiest state, with an average of 77.28 inches of snowfall per year. New Hampshire is the third likeliest state to enjoy a white Christmas, experiencing 71.44 inches of snow over the year.

Colorado gets 67.3 inches of snow on average per annum, making it the state that gets fourth the most snow, and also the highest ranked state in the west. Despite the lowest average temperature of all US states, Alaska only ranks fifth for snowfall, receiving an average of 64.46 inches each year.

Massachusetts is eighth on the list of states likely to see a white Christmas, with 51.05 inches of average snowfall a year, and ninth is Wyoming, which receives 51 inches of yearly snowfall. Wisconsin comes in as tenth, with a total of 45.79 inches of average annual snowfall.

West Virginia is the snowiest state in the southeast, with 25.13 inches of snow on average each year – more than states like Indiana and Illinois.

The southwest’s snowiest state is New Mexico, which receives an average of 22.74 inches of snowfall every year.

Hawaii and Florida are at the bottom of the list, with barely any snowfall each year – the states’ annual average is measured at just 0.01 inches. Louisiana ranks 48^th for snowfall with 0.2 inches per year, behind Alabama which sees 0.57 inches annually on average.
