Dear Detroit ISACA Chapter Members, Hello from Linda Kearney CISA, CIA, CIPP-US ISACA Detroit Chapter President

I hope everyone is having a great summer. Since we last

met in May, the Detroit Chapter Board Members have been busy planning the

2015-2016 year, which we hope to make enjoyable and relevant to the interests

of our members. At the end of last year, we conducted two surveys. The first

was to solicit input from you on topics that you would like to have presented.

The top five topics were: Cyber Security, Data Loss Prevention and Privacy,

Vehicle Security, Audit Program Development using COBIT, and Governance, Risk

and Compliance. As we have been looking for presenters for our monthly meetings

and seminars, we have been searching for experts on these topics.

The second survey was related to facilities. This survey

focused on meeting location and menu options. Based on the results, Carrie

Schrader, Facilities Committee Chair, has been busy looking for venues for this

year. She has selected two primary locations: VisTaTech Center on the

Schoolcraft College campus in Livonia and the MSU Management Education Center

in Troy. As we will be varying the location throughout the year, please pay

attention to the location as you sign up for the monthly meetings. Our first

meeting will be at VisTaTech on September 16 – we hope to see you there.

Some of the other initiatives we have been working on

relate to communications. Soon we will be introducing an ISACA Detroit Chapter

mobile app and we are looking into ways to begin webinars for our members.

These are still in the initial stages, so more information is to yet to come. I

would like to thank Sajay Rai, former President of our Chapter, for

spearheading these programs. In addition, I would like to thank Brad Barton for

heading up the Communications Committee. He has been following guidance set out

by International on ways to improve communications with our membership. We have

taken the first step by filling out a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses,

Opportunities, and Threats) analysis, but still need to finalize an overall

strategy and measurements for each of our communications channels.

As always, if you have a suggestion or wish to volunteer,

please do not hesitate to contact me or any other member of the Board. I can be

reached during the monthly meetings or by sending me an email to [email protected].

I am looking forward to seeing you at the September meeting!!!
