HONG KONG – According to a recent report from the South China Morning Post, Chinese scientists and engineers claim to have developed a plasma stealth device for military aircraft that is capable of rendering nearly any such aircraft undetectable by radar.

Unlike older versions, which created a blanket of plasma covering the entire aircraft, the new technology can target specific areas like the radar dome or cockpit to make them disappear from radar screens.

Called the “closed electron beam plasma stealth device,” it can be activated quickly to deceive radar operators.

Plasma stealth technology is a concept that aims to reduce the detectability or the radar cross-section (RCS) of an aircraft by using ionized gas or plasma.

Hypersonic vehicles or weapons move incredibly fast, causing the air in front of them to create a plasma cloud. This cloud absorbs or disrupts radar waves, effectively hiding the object from radar systems.

The idea is to create a layer of plasma around the aircraft that can absorb or deflect radar waves, making the aircraft less visible to radar detection systems.

While the concept of plasma stealth technology has been studied and researched for decades, practical implementation and its effectiveness remain subjects of ongoing debate and research within the defense community.
