ANN ARBOR – The
Cutting Edge, Drug Discovery and Development in Michigan Symposium Sept. 9-10 will
showcase drug R&D activities at the state’s research universities and
discuss the development, funding, partnering, and commercialization of new
therapeutic discoveries.
The program
is meant to bring together representatives from academia, industry, contract
research organizations, funders, and others to talk about Michigan’s current
drug discovery efforts and future capacity within an academic paradigm.
Changes in
the pharmaceutical R&D business model coupled with an enhanced emphasis on
federally funded translational research has given rise in the number and
sophistication of academic drug discovery centers.
