LANSING – Proposed

changes in health insurance policies for those companies in Michigan selling

insurance via the federal health insurance exchange are being put up for review

and comment by the Department of Insurance and Financial Services.

The proposed

changes to policy costs for both individual and small group plans must still be

reviewed and approved by DIFS before open enrollment for the policies begins on

November 1. The enrollment period, for coverage beginning in 2016, goes through

January 31, 2016.

Public

comments on the proposed changes are being accepted through July 1.

Among the

plans with the largest number of customers, Blue Care Network of Michigan

requested a rate increase of 9.7 percent and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan

an increase of 11.3 percent.

Humana

proposed a rate cut of 4.9 percent. Priority Health is seeking a rate increase

of 3.4 percent.
