DETROIT – Karl Daubmann, the Lawrence Tech University Dean of Architecture and Design, talks about the transportation design works, from designing cities to houses, games to transportation, giving LTU a range of students and disciplines. An emerging culture of DIY, innovations and ranges of manufacturing from cars, to buildings to electronics.
Daubmann wanted to be a car designer, but he grew up on the east coast. Only after he walked through an architecture school did he realize he could design cars as well. He said technology has dramatically impacted architecture. He grew up in small family machine shop so tools like Computer-Aided Design has been some of the technology that become an extension of him as a designer.
