ANN ARBOR – I

don’t often talk directly to my readers and listeners, but I wanted to share

some exciting news with you about a new company I am a partner in called

VideoMeeting. We will be launching the beta test in July and need you, my

readers and listeners, to sample our cloud-based video collaboration service to

tell us what you think. We’ll give you a gift card for a cup of coffee as a

thank you.

What is

VideoMeeting you ask? It is first and foremost a very low cost way to see who

you are talking with on your smartphone, or your laptop or tablet, as well as

your desktop device. Actually many people. Our basic product includes up to 10

video shares during a single session. Each level goes up to max out in the

hundreds. More details when we move into commercialization in late summer or

early fall.

What will

MITechNews.Com do with VideoMeeting? I want to host panel discussions in the

cloud. I can be anywhere I have a broadband Internet connection. Ditto for my

guests. We can do deep dives into juicy topics that can’t adequately be covered

in a text-based story. You can hear the opinions of our guests directly from

them. No editing. We can reach out to a growing audience of Millennials who get

their news, entertainment, sports, and lifestyle information from video.

I also can

use VideoMeeting to do one-on-one video interviews with newsmakers. We can

invite columnist to submit video points of view. It’s going to be fun to find

out all the ways VideoMeeting will help MITechNews.Com and our content partners

– Internet Advisor on WJR 760 and the Michigan Talk Network in outstate

Michigan; ITInTheD.Com; Engineering Society of Detroit; MITech248.Com; Gongwer

News Service; Michipreneur.Com; Digital Divas; and Mobile Technology Association of Michigan – use VideoMeeting to serve

up video content. Means we’ll be able to deliver you our news and information

through websites, eNewsletter, Live Broadcast Radio, Live Internet Radio, Live

Video, and of course, on-demand through audio and video podcasts.

As a

disclaimer, I own 10 percent of VideoMeeting. And this will be the only sales

pitch you will get from me for a product in which I hold an interest. But I don’t

see a downside to offering you the chance to experiment with a cloud-based

video collaboration tool. Like I said, we’ll even buy you a latte, or mocha or the

coffee beverage of your choice for letting us know what you think.
