DETROIT – Wayne Snyder, IT Program Manager for NextEnergy, was honored with the Merit Award for Innovation in Networking and Information Technology at the 2015 member conference. The award recognizes individuals and organizations that have shown leadership in computer networking and information technology, engaged in community building and shown strong involvement in the Merit community.
Under Snyder’s leadership, NextEnergy is pro-actively developing innovative Internet of Things (IoT) energy services for NextHome. NextEnergy is working with Wayne State University to explore the capabilities and benefits of hybrid AC and DC-powered environments for the most efficient living spaces possible. NextEnergy is also collaborating with Merit’s research staff in a National Science Foundation research grant in smart grid analytics and home-area network monitoring. NextHome has been made available as a means for research testing and validation.
Merit is a member-owned, independent non-profit organization,based in Ann Arbor, formed to design and implement computer network between public universities in Michigan.
