LANSING – Two
of Michigan’s best-known Republican operatives are teaming up to form a new
political consulting firm.
Jamie Roe,
who until recently was the long-time chief of staff to U.S.
Rep. Candice Miller (R-Mount Pleasant), and Stu Sandler, who has run his
own consulting firm following a tenure as former Attorney General Mike Cox’s
top political strategist, are forming the firm Grand River Strategies.
Roe and Sandler
will be partners in the firm and employ additional staff. The initial main
clients are U.S.
Rep. Mike Bishop (R-Rochester), U.S. Rep. David Trott (R-Birmingham),
Republican U.S. House candidate Paul Mitchell, the Michigan Chamber of Commerce
and others. Sandler is general consultant for the Michigan House Republican
Campaign Committee and the Michigan Republican Party.
Mitchell
previously had announced the hiring of Roe as general consultant. Sandler’s
previous firm, Decider Strategies, has worked with Bishop and Trott.
“Nothing
means more to Stu and myself than helping great candidates win election to
office, and assisting others to deliver their important message in an effective
way,” Roe said. “We are excited for this great new challenge and
can’t wait to get to work.”
The name of
the firm comes from when both Roe and Sandler first worked for the Michigan
Republican Party in the 1990s at its old offices on East Grand River Avenue in
Lansing.
The firm
will have an office in Ann Arbor, Lansing, Washington, D.C., and Macomb County,
where Mitchell is running for the 10th U.S. House District.
“Stu is
one that when we talked, we’ve been such good friends for a long time, I think
we respect each other’s abilities and complement each other well,” Roe
said. “I think it’s a good fit for the both of us.”
