LANSING ? Mark Clevey, vice president of the Small Business Association of Michigan?s Entrepreneurial Development Center, is joining the Advisory Board, Lear Entrepreneurial Program for Mechanical Engineering, at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield.
The Lear Entrepreneurial Program addresses entrepreneurial management in start-up ventures and new business development in existing companies, and provides a vehicle for sharpening student skills in business process and teamwork as well as specific industry technical skills.
?This is an effort that our publicly funded universities should mirror,? said Clevey. ?SBAM has steadfastly called for new public policies that will foster an entrepreneurial economy in the state. Such an economy would be characterized by the robust creation, retention, expansion and attraction of small business entrepreneurs.?
Clevey says that, in line with the findings from the 2004/05 Michigan Entrepreneurial Score Card, SBAM has focused on four key areas needing immediate and concerted attention if an entrepreneurial economy is to grow in the state.
These include fostering entrepreneurial small business growth, dramatically improving technology transfer from colleges and universities, increasing capital formation for first and second stage entrepreneurs and implementing entrepreneurial degree programs at our colleges and universities.
