DETROIT – Lithium-sulfur batteries have been touted as the ultimate in energy storage however a technical complication has been holding back their widespread adoption until now. A new accidental discovery may finally unlock their full potential and YouTuber Matt Ferrell is here to tell us all about it.
A group of researchers from Drexel University has finally made a breakthrough in lithium-sulfur batteries, which is great considering what abundant and easy-to-access resource sulfur is. If this breakthrough proves successful we may have a much more fruitful and manageable alternative to lithium-ion batteries.
Lithium-sulfur batteries could also achieve up to eight times more energy density than their lithium counterparts. Now, that’s no small achievement.
