YPSILANTI – The Ypsilanti Area Chamber of Commerce and the Ann Arbor Area Chamber of Commerce will merge on June 1, after the motion was approved unanimously at a Special Joint Membership meeting of the Ypsilanti Area Chamber of Commerce and its Educational foundation. The adoption of the merger of the Ypsilanti Area Chamber of Commerce Educational Foundation was also unanimously approved.
The merger process began back in December of 2009. The Special Joint Meeting of the Members of the Ypsilanti Area Chamber of Commerce and its Educational foundation on April 28 was the final step in the merger process. The approval from those who attended the meeting on Wednesday, which was unanimous, completes the merger.
?We are very pleased that the merger went so well,? said Ypsilanti Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors Chair, Mark Ouimet. ?The merger will enhance our opportunity to market on behalf of both memberships.?

The merger will enable the Chamber to elevate its membership to the highest level in customer satisfaction and business acumen,? said Diane Keller, President of the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti Area Chambers of Commerce. ?The membership will benefit in numerous ways including increased member visibility, larger political clout, numerous networking opportunities, enhanced member benefits and streamlined services just to name a few.?
The combined Ann Arbor Area and Ypsilanti Area Chambers of Commerce have more than 1,500 members. The Chambers are community non-profit organizations that actively facilitate, educate, and advocate on behalf of their members through services and programs. Chamber member offerings include numerous networking opportunities and events, educational seminars, leadership development, member-to-member discounts and access to health insurance.
