TROY – Where is Michigan’s tech industry heading? Grab a copy of Automation Alley’s 2012 Technology Industry Report to find out. The report will debut at Automation Alley’s Technology Industry Outlook event Feb. 5 at Automation Alley Headquarters in Troy.
The regional comparison study, From Rust to Resurgence: Detroit?s Regional Technology Economy, contains information compiled by Anderson Economic Group, and focuses this year on the region moving from recession to recovery.
The day will kick off with registration followed by presentations from Patrick Anderson, principal and CEO of Anderson Economic Group and Automation Alley Executive Director Ken Rogers. An open discussion and Q-and-A period will follow.
?Year after year, the data in our Technology Industry Report confirms that Southeast Michigan is a leading technology center, both in the Midwest and nationally,? said Automation Alley Executive Director Ken Rogers. ?Join us as we discuss the region?s technology-related growth and set our sights on the future.?
The report is a data-driven deep dive into key industry areas ? including automotive engineering, STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education and innovative tech companies. The event, which is free and open to Automation Alley members and non-members, serves as a hyperlocal follow-up to the global conversation that takes place every January at the International Consumer Electronics Show, arguably the biggest tech event of the year.
While slow economic growth and persistent unemployment remain burdens at home and abroad, there are signs of improvement in the Detroit region, according to Anderson Economic Group. Find out where metro Detroit stacks up compared to other high-tech hubs across the country, and get a taste of what?s to come for tech companies in the region.
Some key findings in Automation Alley?s 2012 Technology Industry Report include several ?firsts.? For example, when benchmarked with the 14 regions analyzed in the report, the Greater Detroit region was found to be first in advanced automotive sector employment, the total number of advanced automotive industry establishments, architectural and engineering industry employment, the number of people working in architectural and engineering occupations and the number of engineering and engineering technologies degrees completed at colleges and universities in the region.
