BATTLE CREEK – The City of Battle Creek has launched a new web site to increase the public’s contact with the city and provide the Internet tools necessary to complete city-related tasks, such as viewing permits and managing taxes.

The website redesign focuses on core elements ? ease of content surfing, fast web page loading time and creativity. The site is deployed through a specialized platform and content management system designed specifically for municipalities. Enhanced sections include a searchable, citywide events calendar and RSS feeds for the city?s frequent updates and information.

This new design is focused on providing citizens useful information rather than simply a website. There is a new “online Services” section devoted to aggregating all web offerings into one easily viewed page.

Those who have not found answers to questions may utilize a new section of FAQ?s known as “Ask Battle Creek,” which has a Google-like search capability. There also is a new “submit a voice a concern” form found in the “How do I” section of the Home page.

The site is organized to be more citizen-facing rather than simply by city function. The city understands there are many ways people like to receive information, and the new design provides many ways to do this, according the City of Battle Creek Chief Information Officer Dan Ryan.

“It is important for us to deliver content across multiple channels allowing people to choose how to interact with our website,” said Ryan.
