DETROIT ? Butzel Long continues its aggressive expansion by hiring three of New York City?s most experienced real estate attorneys. They?ll staff up century and a half old Detroit-based law firm?s office in the Big Apple.

The new Butzel attorneys include:

Samuel Ofsevit, now a Butzel partner, plus Irwin Reicher and Martin David Schechter who were named counsel. The three are former partners on Linnett Schechter Reicher & Ofsevit, a New York boutique real estate firm.

?Sam, Irwin and Marty have deep roots in the New York real estate community and a breadth of experience practicing in all areas of real estate law,? said Philip J. In June, Butzel Long opened a New York City office with 10 attorneys with the acquisition of commercial law firm Hollyer Brady Barrett & Hines LLP. As part of its rapid growth, Butzel Long recently moved to larger offices at 380 Madison Avenue.

Ofsevit has extensive nationwide experience representing developers, landlords and entrepreneurs in a wide range of real estate transactions, including sales and acquisitions of office buildings, multifamily properties, mixed use properties, shopping centers, net leased properties, vacant land as well as in connection with development rights, purchases of commercial loans and the preparation and negotiation of leases. He also has a significant background representing lenders in connection with real estate issues.

A graduate, magna cum laude, of the University of Rochester,

Ofsevit received his J.D. from New York University School of Law.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.M.

Over the course of his career, Reicher has represented real

estate clients in a variety of complex matters involving leasing, transactions, financings, partnerships and limited liability companies, as well as the structuring of investment vehicles. He also has been involved in the development of numerous high rise buildings in Manhattan, having represented developers in all phases of the project, from the acquisition of the underlying land to construction and transaction financing through completion of sale or rental of the units. A graduate of Tulane University, he received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and is admitted to the New York Bar.

Schechter?s extensive background includes significant experience representing real estate clients in financing transactions including permanent, leasehold and construction loans, wraparound and securitized mortgages, industrial revenue bonds, mezzanine loans, corporate and personal guarantees, defeasance transactions and loan workouts. He also has been involved in numerous sales and acquisitions of office and commercial buildings, shopping centers, and industrial and residential developments, including condominiums and cooperatives.

A graduate of Brooklyn College, Schechter received his J.D. from New York University School of Law and is a member of the New York State Bar Association. He has lectured and conducted seminars on various aspects of real estate law, been called as an expert witness in real estate litigation, served as a member of the Board of Editors of the New York Real Estate Law Reporter, and was for many years an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law.
