GRAND RAPIDS – The Michigan Small Business and Technology Development Center has appointed Carole Williams as its Finance Manager. In her role, Williams holds responsibility for the grants and financial management of the MI-SBTDC headquarters at Grand Valley State University.

With this also comes responsibility for the financial oversight of the twelve MI-SBTDC statewide regional centers, the statewide technology business assistance program funded by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, and the State supported Emerging Technologies fund.

?The SBTDC continues to strengthen and expand its services for entrepreneurs; we are excited to have onboard an expert in grants management who can help the program continue to grow successfully. We are excited to bring Carole into the SBTDC network,? said Carol Lopucki, State Director.

Williams brings tremendous technical financial and accounting experience to the MI-SBTDC. Most recently, she was employed by Grand Valley State University as the University?s fiscal agent for a $15 million federal program, managing federal and state compliance and audits of all grant sub-recipients. Prior to joining Grand Valley State University she spent six years teaching at the college level, eight years operating her own consulting firm serving small businesses, and nine years as lead financial analyst with IBM.

Williams received her CPA license in 1996; she acquired her M.B.A in 1983 from Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia. She has attained certification in grant management.

The Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center provides counseling, training and market research for Michigan?s new business ventures, existing small businesses, expanding new businesses, new technology companies, and innovators.
