SHELBY TOWNSHIP ? Starting in May, eyeWyre Software Studios will offer software development courses for a range of topics, including how to make games for desktop computers, mobile devices, the web and game consoles, like the xbox 360.
The courses, available for ages 14 and up, range from beginner to advanced. The beginner classes provide an introduction to programming for those without any programming experience. The courses are very interactive and hands-on. Students will learn to develop skills necessary to make games for themselves or employers, but also for a powerful and popular game engine called Unity3d.
Course Description:
The Intro to C# for Game Development is a beginners level course designed to provide a moderately paced introduction to programming languages in general, and C# in particular. It targets students interested in learning to write gaming software, but have little or no experience with programming languages.
Prerequisites:
Familiarity with computers. In addition, while this is an introductory course, certain topics will assume a basic understanding of algebraic math.
What will I learn?
You will learn the basics of software development using C#. This knowledge will provide the foundation for game development as well as other application types. Specifically, you will learn:
Fundamental elements of programming
Variables
Classes, objects, properties and methods
Structured programming techniques
Data structures
Program flow
Debugging
What do I bring to class?
You are expected to bring a modern notebook computer, running either Windows or Mac OS X.
What is provided?
You will receive the free Unity Game Development engine that we will use for all in class development projects. You are free to keep this version on your computer after the class.
