LANSING – Gongwer News Service Thursday unveiled two major new features to its pioneering bill tracking system that allow subscribers greater flexibility and utility in following legislation. The first change enables subscribers to track bills by general category.
Under the new service, a subscriber identifies the categories he or she wants to follow. When new legislation is introduced that matches that category, it will be automatically added to a subscriber?s bill tracking profile and then the subscriber will receive a subsequent email notification of the bill?s introduction and all alerts on any subsequent bill activity.
If a subscriber does not wish to track a particular bill even though it is within a tracked topic, the subscriber can click a ?stop tracking? link on Gongwer?s Bill Tracking page under the Legislation Category Tracking header.
The system will also update automatically to include new legislation in the categories subscribers follow as it is introduced. Links to the categories can be found on the Legislation page and the Bill Tracking page under the Legislation Category Tracking header.
The second change enables Gongwer?s subscribers to receive email notifications when a legislative committee of interest issues a notice for a meeting. To activate this service, subscribers should go to the Bill Tracking page and select from House, Senate and joint committees under the Committee Tracking header.
The new additions to Gongwer?s bill tracking system come at no additional cost to subscribers.
Category and committee tracking adds to the other ways subscribers have long been able to track legislation, including by bill number and keyword.
