ANN ARBOR – Intellectual property attorney Chris Mitchell has joined Butzel Long as a senior attorney based in the firm?s Ann Arbor office. He focuses his practice in the areas of consumer products, life sciences and medical devices.
Mitchell has represented biochemical producers, manufacturers of food products, sporting goods and building products, food service franchisors, consumer product companies, medical device manufacturers and online service providers.
Mitchell counsels clients in adopting and leveraging intellectual property beginning with the earliest phases of product development and continuing beyond commercialization. He has significant experience in the areas of patent, trademark and copyright procurement, and frequently handles the international procurement of intellectual property, including PCT applications before the World Intellectual Property Organization. Mr. Mitchell also has significant experience in intellectual property litigation, including administrative proceedings, having handled numerous patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret disputes in various forums.
He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, and before the Canadian Intellectual Property Office.
Mitchell is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati William Howard Taft College of Law (J.D., Honor?s List, 1994). He completed his undergraduate degree at Kenyon College (B.A., Biology, 1991) where he was on the Merit List. He is a resident of Ypsilanti Township.
