DETROIT – The Butzel Long Taxation and Succession Planning Institute is hosting a half-day seminar for tax practitioners June 5 at the Troy Marriott.

The program will focus on recent and significant changes within the Internal Revenue Code.

Some of the topics that will be discussed include: domestic asset protection planning, deferred compensation rules, Michigan tax planning ideas for the long term, sunset provision planning and defined value gifting. Michigan certified public accountants (CPA) are eligible for five CPE credits. Financial planners are eligible for five CE credits.

The seminar will feature Butzel Long attorneys John J. Raymond, Jr. and

R. Peter Prokop. Other Butzel Long attorney presenters include: Sean H. Cook, George B. Donnini, David F. DuMouchel, Amy L. Glenn, Roberta Granadier, Terry O. Lang, Jeffery D. Moss, Suzanne M. Miller, Robert M. Nemzin, Robert P. Perry and Richard A. Shapack.

In addition, Tim Ward, of Butzel Long Government Affairs, will address the politics of tax reform and how it affects the Michigan Business Tax. Ward is a 15-year veteran of government service, lobbying, and campaign management. He has served in various government positions including Governor John Engler�??s director of external affairs, staff positions in the Michigan House and Senate, as well as Oakland County government.

The half-day seminar will take place from 7:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 5 at the Troy Marriott at 200 West Big Beaver in Troy. The registration fee is $100 per person.
