SOUTHFIELD ? Intellectual Property Attorney Matthew R. Mowers has joined the law firm of Warner Norcross & Judd LLP as a partner in the Southfield office.

Mowers, who also has a degree in mechanical engineering, concentrates his practice in the areas of patent and trademark clearance, procurement and enforcement, licensing, due diligence review, unfair competition, and Internet and domain name enforcement. He also specializes in global management of all patent, trademark, investigation, licensing, litigation and budget matters for automotive supplier clients.

Mowers joins the Warner Norcross Technology and Intellectual Property practice group, one of the largest in the state of Michigan, which provides a wide range of legal services including patent prosecution and portfolio management, IP strategy development, technology and licensing, trademark protection, copyright and related areas.

Mowers holds a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from GMI Engineering & Management Institute (now Kettering University) and a doctor of jurisprudence from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. In 2013, Mowers was recognized as both a dBusiness Top Lawyer and a Michigan Super Lawyer Rising Star.

Mowers is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, American Bar Association and is licensed to practice in front of the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. He is a member of the Michigan Intellectual Property Law Association, American Intellectual Property Law Association, Intellectual Property Owners Association, International Trademark Association, Engineering Society of Detroit and Society of Automotive Engineers.
