ANN ARBOR – Merit Network has expanded its MeritLicensing Service and is now offering Secure Sockets Layer certificates to Merit Members at discounted prices.

Merit is an authorized Comodo SSL certificate reseller and can provide Merit Member organizations with standard, wildcard, extended validation, and multi-domain SSL certificates.

“The MeritLicensing Service has been a valuable, cost-savings opportunity for our Members,” said Elwood Downing, vice president of member relations, communications, services and product development for Merit Network. “SSL certificates are something that every organization with a web presence can use to better serve their users, and this program makes them more affordable.”

The new MeritLicensing Service program can distribute the following SSL certificates for annual or multi-year

terms:

Comodo SSL certificate: Provides a 2,048 bit digital signature to verify that traffic is only coming from and going to your website or service. It offers assurance to your users that session information from your site cannot be tampered with, protecting data with up to 256 bit encryption.

Comodo Wildcard Certificate: Allows you to use the same SSL certificate for multiple subdomains, providing cost savings and simplification of deployment and support.

Comodo Extended Validation (EV) SSL Certificate: Offers enhanced security by requiring additional identify verification of the website owner before the certificate is activated. In leading web browsers an EV certificate will highlight the address bar in green, thus providing greater peace of mind for your web site visitors.

Comodo EV Multi-Domain Certificate (MDC): Allows you to serve multiple domains from one certificate and features the same enhanced verification and browser functions as the EV SSL Certificate.

Merit Network launched the MeritLicensing Service in May 2010, providing licenses for VMware products at significantly reduced prices. Since then, Merit has expanded the service to include licensing programs for Zimbra, Veeam, and Comodo. Only Merit Member organizations can participate in the cost-saving programs, and eligible non-Member organizations can begin using the service after paying a basic member licensing fee.
