ANN ARBOR – Merit Network President/CEO Don Welch has been named the Vice Chair of Internet2’s External Relations Advisory Council, which is responsible for advising Internet2’s Board and management on matters of policy, standards, and strategies in the context of industry, government, and international relations.

“I am honored by the confidence that the Council has shown in me. This is a great opportunity to better represent the Merit Community during this exciting time.”

Welch was elected to a three-year term on the Council in March 2010 and has served as a Regional Network Representative.
